Must You Apply Vitrified Tile Back Adhesive for Wall Installation? The Benefits Are Surprisingly Many!

2025-11-23

As people's living standards continue to improve, more and more households opt for high-end ceramic tiles in home renovations. Tiles are one of the primary materials in the decoration market, with a growing variety available—such as vitrified tiles, marble tiles, polished tiles, and more. These tiles feature a smooth, aesthetically pleasing glaze, excellent durability, and strong waterproof/moisture-resistant properties. While they are highly sought-after for their premium appearance, the increasing demand for spatial quality has also raised higher requirements for tile installation materials.

Common Problems with These Tiles:

1.Extremely low water absorption, making adhesion difficult

2.Poor bonding of large-format tiles

This is where back adhesive comes into play!

What is Vitrified Tile Back Adhesive?

Vitrified tile back adhesive is an interface treatment agent for tiles. It contains a polymer emulsion with ultra-fine particles that can penetrate the capillary pores on the back of tiles, forming a high-performance interface layer. This ensures a tight and durable bond between the tile and the wall.

How Effective is Vitrified Tile Back Adhesive?

After installing vitrified tiles on a cement substrate using back adhesive + tile adhesive, we conducted a impact test: even when the tiles were shattered, they remained firmly attached to the wall! This is precisely why vitrified tile back adhesive is essential for wall installation.

What is the Application Scope?

Vitrified tile back adhesive is widely used for old wall renovations, and the installation of tiles, vitrified tiles, glass mosaics, marble, etc. It enhances the adhesion of substrates and is particularly suitable for interface reinforcement treatment on the back of low-water-absorption vitrified tiles.

How to Use Vitrified Tile Back Adhesive?

1.Prepare a flat base surface: Remove all oil stains, splattered mortar, and debris from the wall.

2.For new walls (before plastering) or old wall renovations, simply apply the adhesive with a short-haired roller.

3.When installing tiles:

①Stir the back adhesive thoroughly with a brown brush or small roller approximately 2 hours in advance.

②Apply the adhesive directly to the back of the tile, keeping it 2mm away from the edges.

③Do not wait for the adhesive to dry. Use a mixture of ordinary cement and 1/3 fine sand as mortar for installation.

This method enhances tile adhesion, improves waterproof performance, and effectively prevents hollowing and detachment.
